Straight from the Devs

AAA or indie, big or small, OPNoobs is looking for quality games made by talented people. It’s not about marketing budget or Twitch numbers, we bring you updates straight from the developers of the games you’re playing. We provide an unfiltered voice from inside the gaming industry. Anything published in OPN’s Straight From The Devs series is just that, and we hope our readers feel that this narrows the gap between them and the industry they follow so closely.

In curating the content we publish, The Overpowered Noobs consistently screen all the games to be released on PC. The following titles are what we believe make for the most interesting releases this week.

The creative process of The Watchmaker has been continuous improvement in these four years of development, starting by working on expressing our own fascination for the time that goes by in life. The fact of aging and the realization that life was made to live and enjoy — not to collect material things — is really important to us, which is something that is inserted in the history of our game. The art of the game is one of the most relevant aspects of the game, along with the story, and we believe that the steampunk style was the right one for a watchmaker — full of gears and steam.

Imagine vehicular combat reminiscent of Twisted Metal mixed with competitive tower rush strategy. Players choose a faction, and a deck of vehicles to take into a battle against either an AI or human opponent. With limited resources, players will need to collect the appropriate supplies needed to deploy vehicles of destruction against the enemy team. While you're doing this, the opposing player will be vying for the same goals on top of trying to take you down. Each team has a station which needs protecting, and the end goal is to destroy the other teams base. Avoid the enemy or destroy them head-on, the strategy you choose is up to you and reflected in the vehicles you choose to secure victory.
